Bequest Language

An unrestricted bequest enables The Hun School of Princeton to allocate the funds to support its highest priorities. The School also accepts restricted bequests designated for specific endowed funds. However, please note that certain restrictions apply, so we recommend discussing your gifting goals with someone from the Development Office. We can also provide sample language for you and your attorney to use.

General Bequest (Unrestricted):
"I give and bequeath [specific amount, percentage of my estate, or the remainder of my estate] to The Hun School of Princeton, a nonprofit corporation located in Princeton, New Jersey, to be used for its general purposes."

Specific Bequest (Restricted Use):
"I give and bequeath [amount or asset] to The Hun School of Princeton, a nonprofit corporation located in Princeton, New Jersey, to be used specifically for [e.g., financial aid, faculty support, academic program]. If circumstances arise that make the designated use impossible or impractical, the Board of Trustees may apply the gift to a purpose they deem most closely aligned with the donor’s intent."

Residuary Bequest (Remainder of Estate):
"I give and bequeath [all or a specified percentage] of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to The Hun School of Princeton, a nonprofit corporation located in Princeton, New Jersey, for its general purposes."

Contingent Bequest:
"In the event that [primary beneficiary] does not survive me, I give [amount, percentage, or asset] to The Hun School of Princeton, a nonprofit corporation located in Princeton, New Jersey, for its general purposes."
